For us Filipino citizens applying for a japan visa is free of charge as long as you're staying for not more than 3 months.Here in singapore there are only few requirements that you need and make sure you have all the papers ready with you when you go to japan embassy. Do not staple the papers, follow the order of all the requirements so you won't be in a mess when you present them to the officer.Application is only done from 8:30-12 in the morning and collection of visa will be in the afternoon. Our visa took 5 days before they ask me to collect them. You can check the list of requirements on their website; http://www.sg.emb-japan.go.jp/visa_shortterm.htm for short-term stay, but if you go through the website all you questions will be answered.
Here are the list of documents to be submitted by the applicant: It should be on this order:
PASSPORT (Original)
-A valid passport with at least 2 blank (visa) pages remaining. (1 page for visa sticker, another page for the landing permission stamp. It should have a validity of 6 months or more.
VISA APPLICATION FORM (Original)
-You can download the form from the website above and make sure to fill it up properly, either PDF or handwritten will do.
1 PASSPORT SIZE OR 45MMX45MM PHOTO WITH WHITE BACKGROUND (Original)
-I indicated these 2 photo sizes and you can submit either one, website says passport photo but when you download the form it's 45mmx45mm, don't worry because they will accept either one.
CERTIFICATE OF EMPLOYMENT (Original)
-A valid certificate of employment from your employer indicating Applicant's name, Nationality, Passport number, Joined Date, Position and current monthly salary. You can see the downloadable sample on the website. There's also sample for students.
FLIGHT ITINERARY (Photocopy)
-A round-trip ticket or flight itinerary showing your departure and arrival date.
UPDATED PASSBOOK OR BANK STATEMENT (Photocopy)
-Passbook or Bank Statement showing your 1 month transaction, it should show the account number and account holder name. Simgapore PR's are exempted from this as long as they provide certificate of employment.
IDENTITY CARD (Photocopy)
-Valid Singapore identity cards must be photocopied back and front. Singapore Permanent Resident blue I.C. (PR), Employment Pass (EP), Work Permit (WP), Dependent Pass (DP), Student Pass (STP) or Long-Term Social Visit Pass (SVP).
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS (Photocopy)
for unemployed, minor or student: I submitted all these because I am unemployed and my husband is my sponsor
1. Letter of Sponsorship
-Downloadable format from the website
2. Proof of Relationship (Photocopy)
-Marriage Certificate, Birth certificate of sponsor and applicant
3. Other requirements of Sponsor
-Photocopy of bank statement and Singapore Identification card of the sponsor
LETTER OF AUTHORIZATION (Original)
-Downloadable format from the website.If the application was done by travel agent or other party.
